Lead with truth
The sacrificial nature of juggling instructional, operational, managerial, and collegial goals often leaves school leaders feeling so desperate to resolve conflicts that they lose self, abandoning their core values and forgetting their "why." In this timely and impactful resource, author and professor "Dr. O" draws on her own leadership journey– a journey where she remained true to her beliefs and commitment to serve BIPOC communities, even when that meant choosing the road less traveled--offering nine anchor principles to help guide educational leaders in returning to their core values; communicate and build trusting relationships with staff members, students, and parents; and recognize their self-worth beyond their role on school campuses.
About Dr. Qiana O'Leary
Dr. Qiana is the CEO, Founder, and Owner for Minty Educational Services. She is an experienced traditional public school and charter school social justice educator. Dr. Qiana has served as an ELA teacher, ELA department chair, extra-curricular club sponsor, athletic coach, and school administrator for school districts in the states of California and Texas. She received her bachelor’s degree from California State University, Bakersfield, her master’s from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and her Ed.D. from University of Massachusetts Global, formerly known as Brandman University. Dr. Qiana has been a school administrator at the elementary school, middle school, and high school levels.
She also was identified as a transformational leader who successfully reduced the high school dropout rate by reviewing the data of at-risk students in grades K-12 and by creating systemic resolutions that improved school culture and organizational structures. Those improvements included: establishing collaborative goals from all stakeholders, providing effective supporting systems for the students, and using the progressive learning model for professional development.
Dr. Qiana is an education reformer and author who has spent her years of service founding charter schools, establishing nonprofit organizations, and mentoring students. She believes that a quality education is the foundation for success in life, and hopes to use her influence to create more inspiring learning environments. Dr. Qiana has recently published her first book, Lead with Truth, which challenges educators to create an environment where students are encouraged to find their passions and pursue them passionately.
